| I received this interesting press release from Celebrity. I guess
Bermuda wanted to make up for the void of NCL not having a 2nd ship to
sail to the islands next year and beyond. As you may be aware Bermuda
has only allowed 2 ships per company to sail to Bermuda on a regular
basis. Celebrity lost their 2nd ship because Bermuda now considers
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity to be one cruise company. Therefore,
Bermuda had previously limited the upcoming season to the Nordic
Empress and the Zenith. If you have missed any of my news postings,
they are available on my web site. |

| Celebritys Zenith was already scheduled to sail to the island
paradise in 2000, while Horizon was slated for deployment in Europe,
offering cruises catering to a European audience. But when the Bermuda
government and Department of Tourism recently extended an invitation
to Celebrity to again deploy Horizon to Bermuda, Celebrity officials
said they seized the opportunity. |
| Someone mentioned using busses to get around in Bermuda. I personally
recommend taking a taxi tour (I have a recommendation) to get your
bearing first. Also the driver narrates the tour and its comfortable. |
| These voyages, and a similar series from Charleston, S.C., mark an
uncommon deviation from major cruise lines typical U.S. homeports and
illustrate Carnivals desire to expand its cruise operations along the
eastern seaboard. Also, the Aug. 25 Bermuda cruise is Carnivals first
visit to that island in more than 15 years. |
