| Check out the newsgroup rec.travel.cruises. Its pretty much as helpful
for planning cruises as this group is for planning Disney vacations. There
are several travel agents that frequent the newsgroup, any of which will
be very happy to price out a cruise for you. Im guessing that a cruise
specialist may be able to get you a better price than a Disney specialist
- not 100% sure, but theyve been able to get some awesome deals for
people. |
| In my parents case, my dad does *everything* for vacation planning except
the packing --
from the research to the budgetting, to making the money, to choosing the
itinerary, (ship in the case of cruises), planning excursions, etc. My
mother does the pre and post trip laundy, ironing and packing, mostly
because she is *neat freak* :-) and watns everything just right. I guess
the packing in this case includes shopping for new clothes if necessary.
If things were left to my mother, I dont theink theyd ever travel, as my
mother doesnt enjoy the fuss and bother of arranging trips, nor the
travel to get there. Once on board (or once in the country, in the case
of land trips), she gets into the of things....but its really my
Dad who **loves** to travel! |
| Happy cruise planning! Cruises are great family vacations, IMHO--everyone
gets to do his/her own thing, but the family can enjoy quality time together,
as well. |
| Hi, Im the coordinator for the SGC (rec. travel.cruises Summer Group Cruise
to Bermuda) this summer. Planning a newsgroup group cruise is different
from planning a private group, because the whole group decides the plans,
not the coordinator. In your case, it sounds like you will plan the cruise
yourself and act as Tour Leader. In that case, I would work with a travel
agent who can explain how you can get the 15th fare yourself or reduced
rates as the Tour Leader. (in the rtc cruises, these free fares have been
rebated back to the entire group of cruisers, to reduce the overall group
price even further, and the Organizer does not receive any lower fees or
perks. ) The agent will also be aware of which lines will have the kind of
things your group is looking for. |
| In addition to these programs, AOL and P&O Princess Cruises will work
together to build a Princess online community center, which will be
customized for Princess Cruises passengers and enable them to share
stories and information with other passengers who are planning cruises
or who have just returned. The AOL-sponsored site is another step by
Princess to further provide its customers with the latest in cruise
innovation, and one that allows community dialogue between passengers,
travel agents and the cruise line. |
